FHS STUDENTS REPLACE ROOF ON POST 43

Students, under the guidance of FHS 249 teachers ripped off the old roof and put a brand new roof on John F. Derby Post 43 American Legion Hall in Frontenac Kansas on Wednesday, May 4, 2011. The principal of USD 249, Joe Martin, said this would help repay Post 43 for all the things the post does for the school.

Special thanks go to past commander Marc McCulley for ramrodding the project. And also a special thanks to Kelly Fields, USD249 Trades teacher, and Bruce Blair, USD249 Biology teacher. Thank you all so much.

  1. Wow, incredible work students! You guys were able to complete the project in one day, and what more, it looked really awesome! Looking at the photos, everyone was busy doing their job. Your school must be thankful for what you have contributed, and I bet you guys had a great experience!

  2. Good job, boys! I also experienced working on our roof when I was in high school. Two of my buddies were home and my father asked me to assist him for a moment. I just need to lend him the materials he needed, but I ended up climbing on the roof as well. Haha! My friends joined in too. It was really fun!

  3. It’s probably fun to work on the roof with all of your friends. You might not even feel the toll of working hard, because everybody was probably laughing and having a good time. This is such a great project, by the way. I think it taught students the value of hard work, team effort, and being grateful to others.
